Number one on our list is this historic Medieval Castle set in a secluded location in Scotland, yet still only a 15-minute drive to St Andrews and an hour from Edinburgh. The castle would be a perfect spot to spend a holiday with up to 13 people. Keep warm with wood fires spread across the house, and feel like royalty whilst sleeping in a king sized, four post bed. The castle is situated on 6 acres of land and if winter walks are your thing, then put on your coat and take a stroll through the orchards and forests to the river Eden which runs through the properties grounds.

What could be better than staying in a castle next to a ski resort? Situated on Loch an Eilein, this home offers stunning views of what almost becomes your own private lake due to its isolated location. The home itself is decorated to the highest standards and includes underfloor heating as well as a double wood fire place in the bedroom and living room – making this a fantastic, cosy spot to spend a white Christmas, as it regularly snows here.
